20 November 2014. Laid back in Chiang Mai

It is now 6.30 p.m. and I feel shamed by what little I have done today. The sole achievements are collecting a pair of trousers I left for repair yesterday (two pockets with holes very professionally repaired for 60p instead of £15 in London!) and booking a trip to an elephant sanctuary. That's it.

I don't know what it is about the place but I have certainly got into the mood of manana. It is not what you would call a particularly pretty town; not is it particularly quite. But somehow it exudes a sense of relaxation; why worry; don't hurry. Maybe it's the heat coupled with all the temples and monks. Whatever; now it's 7.00! I doubt there'll be much more to report today.I just sat and watched the sun set from my room.
