10 December 2014. Temple of Literature and Swing Bar

The weather was a bit dreary which put a bt of a damper (literally) on the photography during the day. I had booked a tour of the Temple of Literature and West Lake pagoda and temple with one of the student tours. The idea is it gives them a chance to practise their English and the tourist gets a tour. In fact my guide was not very informative and her accent was hard to understand. So it was not a waste of time; but could have been a lot more informative. Anyway, I'm sure the information is written somewhere.

That afternoon, I took myself to the old citadel which is a really interesting site with everything from the old war rooms as well as archeological digs unearthing the Hanoi of centuries back.

In the evening I decided to check out the Swing Bar. The star attraction was Rieng Minh Ta, a popular local singer who accepted lots of presents and notes from the girls in the audience! All a bit weird. Beers were £3 a bottle and plenty of people had far less modest drinks than that. There's money about if you know where to look!
.

On the way to the bar, I'd passed a far more traditional version of dancing - in the park
